New travel rules from England to France as of October 4th 2021

20/09/2021

Travel from England is about to get easier. In the example of coming to France to ski, a pre- departure test taken up to three days before your return home to England will no longer be required from October 4th, as long as you are fully vaccinated.

However, you will still be required to take a PCR test on day 2 of your arrival back in England. This will continue hopefully until 'later' in October (date tbc). For the fully vaccinated, this will be replaced by the cheaper lateral flow tests (c. £30) and only if you were positive would you need to self isolate and take a PCR test.

The current traffic light system will change on October 4th to merge the green and amber lists that will become one category deemed as 'low risk' countries.  France was an amber list country so will fall in this new low category.

France also currently does not require fully vaccinated travellers to take a PCR test to enter the country.

For the unvaccinated traveller, you must take a PCR test but are not required to self-isolate after arriving from a green list destination.

On return to England, unvaccinated people will have to take a day two and day eight test on arrival as well as self-isolate at home for 10 days. You have the option to take a day five test and be released from quarantine if you are negative.
