Children in this age category can only get 1 vaccination in the UK under current rules. However, this is not recognised as being fully vaccinated in France. Children 12-17 would have to have had 2 vaccinations in order to comply with French rules. So this poses a problem when travelling with this age group to France.
Entering the country is straight forward as you have to have proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken 24 hours before departure. The UK government website states 'arrivals from the UK aged 12 years old or over are required to present evidence of a negative test (PCR or antigen) taken within 24 hours of departure (first flight departure in case of connecting flight). Self-administered tests are not accepted.'
Under 12’s do not need proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country.
The problem arises for 12-17 year olds to get a Pass Sanitaire to enter swimming pools, cinemas, restaurants or bars. This is not possible without a Pass Sanitaire. Entering shops is exempt from this.
Daily tests are required in order to get a Pass Sanitaire and Val d’Isere has a test centre plus the Pharmacy who can provide the tests and the pass for this purpose.
If a child 12-17 years old has had Covid-19, they qualify to get a Health Pass by presenting proof. This negates the need to have daily tests.
